Pink Cherubs (2025) draws inspiration from Andy Warhol’s cherub drawings, particularly those depicting pink, angelic beings exuding a sense of wonder and play. Captivated by their whimsy, Avnet portrays herself in a long faux-fur coat with cherub friends to offer her solace. As symbols of innocence and divine intervention, the cherubs act as guides on Avnet’s journey to self-discovery and self-love.
The heart on her sleeve directly references the idiom “wearing your heart on your sleeve,” a reminder to embrace emotional vulnerability. While transparency in one’s emotions is not always easy, Avnet seeks to embody honesty in both life and artistic practice.
