let go or be dragged

Let Go or Be Dragged (2025) is a cartoon born from a period of anxiety and reflection. During times of stress, my illustrations are a form of self-expression, often blending humor and vulnerability with visual self-portraits. In Let Go or Be Dragged, I’m clinging to a stop sign, a metaphor for intrusive thoughts I struggle to shake. The bold “STOP” represents my frustration towards the constant overthinking.

Recurring easter eggs find their way into the drawing, like the baby cherub and the anti-bimbo tank top. The two act as foils; one serves as a helpful guide, while the other only holds me back. The tank top my character wears pokes fun at the self loathing I feel at times, while the pink cherub gently pulls me forward–a reminder to not take everything seriously.

Through humor and honesty, my cartoons transform anxiety into self-expression, offering myself a moment of peace, reflection, and release.
