Cassie, 2021 delves into the complex interplay between vulnerability and shame, capturing a moment of raw, unfiltered emotion. Inspired by the character Cassie from Euphoria, Avnet sought to explore the duality of strength and fragility that exists within her. The work is not just a portrayal of Cassie, but also a broader commentary on the universal feelings of shame that many young girls experience—whether through pressured situations or societal expectations. Through the use of soft brushstrokes and a muted color palette, Avnet aimed to convey the vulnerability that Cassie embodies, juxtaposed with the striking, almost defiant look on her face.
