About Ryleigh

Ryleigh Avnet (b. 2001) is an artist from Wayne, Pennsylvania, currently residing in New York City. She graduated in 2023 with a BFA in Studio Art and a minor in Art History from Steinhardt, New York University. 

Avnet has been taking commissions for the last seven years and started exhibiting her work in college. Her thesis show, An Allegory of Tongues, was exhibited in The Commons and Rosenberg Gallery in NYU’s Barney Building. In 2023, Avnet exhibited her work at a Look Alive event. Most recently, she organized and exhibited in a group show, intrusive th*ts, in Dumbo, Brooklyn. 

As a multidisciplinary artist with a focus in painting, Avnet’s work is driven by a self-exploration into understanding femininity and the many complexities of being a woman. She addresses themes of feminine rage, male validation, nostalgia, jealousy, and the awkward transition between girlhood into adulthood. Her work often combines elements of beauty with an undertone of discomfort or ugliness. Avnet does so to demonstrate the duality of human, and the reality of two truths.
